Since the role-playing is going so slow... I decided to give out free ranks to who ever wants them. Ranks are a characters' status in a pack, pride or herd. Higher ranks have much more privileges then the lower ones.
Below are the privileges of a wolf pack. The most important ranks are at the top and so on until the lowest.
..::Note::.. Dogs and foxes may be accepted into wolf packs. A dog can't make the Alpha and Alphess ranks and a fox may not become an Alpha, Alphess, Alpha bodyguard, or either of the Beta ranks. The other positions are all right.
..::Note::.. The ranks for any prides and herds are relatively along these lines. As with a pride, any cat can join. A herd may have horses or other hoofed animal species, such as deer, and sometimes foxes as they aren't considered a threat.
Below are the privileges of a wolf pack. The most important ranks are at the top and so on until the lowest.
Pack
Alpha male: Leader of all the wolves. He decides who joins and commands the pack.
Alphess: Co-leader of all the wolves. She is the Alpha's mate and commands the females and omega in the pack.
Alpha bodyguard: Usually this is the strongest warrior or hunter that takes this rank. As the title says, this wolf acts as the Alpha's and Alphess's bodyguard.
Beta male: Second in command to the Alpha. Whenever the Alpha is away, he takes over his duties until he returns.
Beta female: Second in command to the Alphess. Whenever the Alphess is away, she takes over her duties until she returns. She is the Beta male's mate.
Gamma male: More of an adviser to the Alpha than a replacement.
Gamma female: More of an adviser to the Alphess than a replacement. She is more often than not the Gamma male's mate.
Head warrior: Much like the chief of a platoon. This rank can be awarded to either gender and serves the Alpha more than the Alphess.
Warriors: Wolves who serve themselves as warriors to the Alpha and Alphess. Either gender can serve as a warrior.
Head hunter: The leading wolf in hunts. This rank can be awarded to either gender and retrieves food for the entire pack.
Hunters: Wolves who hunt for the entire packs well-being. Either gender can be a hunter.
Head healer: A wolf skilled in the uses of natural herbs for healing wounds and sickness. Of either gender.
Healers: Wolves serving under the Head healer and are learning the ways of healing wounds and sickness. Of either gender.
Head scout: The leading scout that patrols the pack's border and is sent on errands by the Alpha. Of either gender.
Scouts: Wolves serving under the Head scout. Are often out patrolling the border or sent on errands by the Alpha or Alphess. Of either gender.
Pup sitter: A wolf of either gender that watches over the pups.
Pups: Descendants or adopted pups of the pack.
Other members: Other wolves not given a rank by the Alpha.
Omega: The lowest rank in a pack. Of either gender and isn't allowed to bear pups or participate in hunts. This wolf is often frowned upon. The only benefits for this would be the pack's protection.
